Mayo Clinic Reviews the Health & Wellness Benefits of Sauna

When we started manufacturing our infrared sauna pods 30 years ago, the science and research regarding wellness hadn’t yet caught up with what we already knew. Fortunately, following greater emphasis on achieving better health solutions with natural, holistic and non-pharmacological solutions, more scientific research has been conducted proving the wellness benefits we have been experiencing for years through a healthy lifestyle that includes infrared sauna use.

In a new review, just published by the world-famous Mayo Clinic in August 2018, titled Cardiovascular and Other Health Benefits of Sauna Bathing: A Review of the Evidence, the authors analyzed a host of published studies proving the health and wellness benefits of sauna bathing. These studies shed light on the advantages we have been experiencing and promoting for years.
According to the Mayo Clinic review, “sauna bathing may be linked to several health benefits, which include reduction in the risk of vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and neurocognitive diseases; nonvascular conditions such as pulmonary diseases; mortality; as well as amelioration of conditions such as arthritis, headache, and flu.” A gold-standard endorsement, per se.

Even with this new, glowing approval, the Mayo Clinic Article only touched on a fraction of the recent studies proving the benefits of heat and saunas. And more studies are being conducted that prove the plethora of wellness benefits that infrared saunas offer.

"Now, the science of wellness benefits is catching up to what we have always believed."

The business opportunity of wellness services has arrived! Understanding and focusing on the scientifically-proven benefits of infrared saunas and pods is a great tool for you to use in marketing these types of wellness services in your facility. Now, more than ever, you are able to tell people the proven “why” behind what makes infrared so beneficial for wellness.

However, make sure you do your homework, because unfortunately, not all reported health claims about the saunas are accurate. For instance, some infrared sauna distributors claim that their saunas are the cure for cancer or other lifelong diseases. These claims, simply put, are false and/or not backed by science or data. This slippery slope fallacy leads consumers to believe that if the sauna can be helpful in one area, then it must be helpful to another area of the body and cures everything. Being in the industry as long as we have, we warn our consumers and distributors to avoid making unproven medical and health claims.

For your wellness business marketing, we believe that education is the key to your success. It begins with continual education for ourselves and ends with educating our clients and customers about why infrared is beneficial.
With more proven holistic wellness benefits being discovered over the past decade, the popularity of infrared sauna has risen immensely. In 2010, popularity grew significantly when Dr. Oz was seen on the “Oprah” show touting the wellness benefits of the infrared saunas. More recently, big names like Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga, and Dr. Rhonda Patrick have openly endorsed the habitual use of infrared saunas. This popularity of infrared saunas has led researchers to delve even deeper into the benefits of saunas and their effectiveness. We believe the subject Mayo Clinic review is “the tip of the iceberg.”

Years ago, when we first started producing infrared sauna pods, we knew we were onto something big. Now, the science of wellness benefits is catching up to what we have always believed, and the use of infrared saunas and sauna pods can be revolutionary for your own health and wellness, and your business, too!
